India's business chambers mourn Benazir's demise

New Delhi, Dec 28 (UNI) India's business community today unanimously mourned the demise of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto who was killed yesterday in a suicide attack in Rawalpindi.

CII President Sunil Bharti Mittal said that the chamber is deeply saddened at the tragic loss of a senior leader of the sub-continent.

Stating that CII over the years has had the privilege to interact with Ms Bhutto, Mr Mittal offered his condolences to the people of Pakistan and to her family.

''A dastardly act like this emphasises the need for the world to unite and fight terrorism,'' a CII statement said.

Industry chamber Assocham also condemned the assassination of Ms Bhutto, describing it the most heinous and dastardly act.

In a statement issued here, the chamber President Venugopal N Dhoot said that Ms Bhutto was trying her best to restore democracy in Pakistan and with her assassination, the forces fighting for elimination of terrorism could weaken.
