Deve Gowda condemns Benazir Bhutto assassination

Bangalore, Dec 28 (UNI) Former Prime Minsiter H D Deve Gowda today described the assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minsiter Benazir Bhutto as most heinous, brutal and a dasatardly act of crime.

In a message here he said that the murder, a major setback to the ongoing democratic process in the neighbouring country, was an indicator of the growing scourge of terrorism and the threat it posed to the sub condinent.

In her death, Ms Bhutto had followed the footsteps of her father late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who too had made the supreme sacrifice at the altar of democracy, he added.

He appealed to the people of Pakistan to maintain peace, exercise restraint and work for the restoration of democracy, which he said would be a real and befitting tribute to the late leader.
