Buses to Pakistan cancelled due to tense situation
Attari-Wagah, Dec 28 (UNI) The Indian government today cancelled two Pakistan bound buses operating through this checkpost due to the prevailing situation in that country following the assassination of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson and former prime minister Benazur Bhutto at Rawalpindi yesterday.
Official sources here said that following reports of violence in Pakistan in the aftermath of the assassination, the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib and Delhi-Lahore bus had been cancelled. The buses may operate tomorrow, situation permitting, officials stated.
However, the bus to Delhi arrived from Lahore this morning and later left for the National Capital. Meanwhile a number of non-Pakistani tourists arrived at the checkpost today from across the border following the tense situation.
The Border Security Force (BSF) stepped up vigil at the check post and along the 553 km long Indo-Pak border in Punjab.
