power corporation gifts 'VDS' to consumers in the new year

Hisar, Dec 27 (UNI) Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has introduced Voluntary Disclosure Scheme (VDS) for unauthorised extension of load for all categories of consumers, including domestic, non-domestic, agriculture and industrial, in its area. A spokesman for DHBVN said here today that the VDS is meant for domestic, non-domestic, tubewell and industrial consumers in urban as well as rural area for declaring their unauthorized load voluntarily to get it regularised with out paying any penalty.

The VDS would remain operational up to January 31, 2008.

This scheme would also be available to the consumers who have already applied for extension of load and the applications are under process for approval.

The spokesman urged the consumers to take full advantage of this scheme to avoid penalties. He said that DHBVN would launch a campaign after January 31 to detect the cases of unauthorized extension of load and theft of electricity. As per the new electricity act the penalties for theft of electricity are very high, he stressed.
