Agartala, Dec 26: Tripura government has asked the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to sort out the issue of gas supply with North Eastern Electric Power Company (NEEPCO) for its 104 MW power project at Monarchak.
Official sources here today said besides, the state government had ordered turbines for Baramura thermal power project to Bharat Heavy Electric Ltd (BHEL) so that the work could be started within August 2009.
State Power Minister Manik Dey said, ''We have urged the Petroleum Ministry and ONGC to sign an MoU on gas supply agreement with NEEPCO for the proposed Monarchak project as early as possible.'' The Petroleum Ministry had earlier assured the NEEPCO to supply natural gas to run the 104 MW power project at Monarchak but nothing had been finalised even after four years.
Meanwhile, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) has already inked a deal with BHEL to supply turbines for the setting up of a 21 MW unit at Baramura.
