PM pays floral tributes to former president S D Sharma

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today paid floral tributes to former President Shankar Dayal Sharma at a function at his samadhi 'Karma Bhumi' to commemorate his eighth death anniversary.

Leader of the Opposition L K Advani, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Union Minister of State for Personnel and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachauri and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were present on the occasion.

Mrs Vimala Sharma, wife of the late president, also attended the function to commemorate the death anniversary of the former president, who actively participated in the historic Quit India Movement. He is known for his learning, humanism and generosity as well as for his invaluable contributions in diverse areas of nation building and for the cause of global peace.
