Over 41 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Dec 24 (UNI) Over 41.79 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Haryana and six government procuring agencies have purchased 17.84 lakh MTs so far.

Stating this here today, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that out of total arrival 26.13 lakh tonnes of paddy was leviable and 15.66 lakh tonnes of paddy was non-leviable.

The traders had purchased 15.68 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, he said.

Mr Chander Mohan said that HAFED had procured 7.19 lakh MTs of paddy, Food and Supplies Department 5.64 lakh MTs, Agro Industries Corporation 2.23 lakh MTs, Confed 2.05 lakh MTs and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 60,194 MTs of paddy and Food Corporation of India 10,431 MTs.

The Kurukshetra district was ahead in all the districts of the State with the arrival of 7.20 lakh MTs of paddy followed by Karnal 6.66 lakh MTs, while Kaithal district remained third with arrival of 5.05 lakh.

He said that Fatehabad district has procured 4.76 lakh MTs of paddy, Jind 3.74 lakh MTs, Ambala 3.16 lakh MTs, Panipat 2.27 lakh MTs, Yamunanagar 2.17 lakh MTs, Sirsa 1.98 MTs, Sonepat 1.79 lakh MTs and Faridabad 1.56 lakh MTs .

He said that the paddy would be purchased by the procured agencies upto December 31.
