Modi elected leader of BJP legislature party

Gandhinagar, Dec 24: Mr Narendra Modi, who led the BJP to a resounding victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections, was elected Leader of the BJP state Legislature Party today.

At a meeting of the newly-elected legislators at the Town Hall here, Mr Modi's name was proposed by senior leader Vajubhai Vala and seconded by Mr Fakir Vaghela and Mr Mangubhai Patel, among others. All the legislators approved his name by raising their hands. '' Mr Modi is the leader of the BJP Legislature Party,'', announced central party observer M Venkaiah Naidu.Mr Arun Jaitley and Mr Om Mathur were the other central party observers at the meeting.

Mr Modi will take oath of office tomorrow at 1230 hours at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
