BSP presence affected our prospects in many seats: Congress

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) The Congress Party today said its candidates got defeated in 18 to 20 seats in Gujarat assembly elections because of the presence of the candidates of the Bahujan Samaj Party of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.

''It may not be the intention of the BSP to help the communal forces(BJP). But its presence did indirectly help them,'' AICC General Secretary in charge of Media Veerappa Moily told mediapersons.

The BSP has fielded candidates in about 166 out of the 182 seats, but all of them lost deposits.
