PM pays tributes to Charan Singh at 'kisan ghat'

New Delhi, Dec 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today visited 'kisan ghat' to pay tributes to former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his 105th birth anniversary.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Rashtriya Lok Dal president and Chaudhary Charan's Singh's son Ajit Singh, paid floral tributes at the 'samadhi sthal' of the great leader who was an ardent patriot, able administrator, astute statesman and a champion of the cause of Indian peasantry.

Earlier, Dr Singh and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani, Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel Affairs, Public Grievances and Pensions and Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachauri and several former MPs paid floral tributes at the portrait of Chaudhary Charan Singh in Parliament.
