Haryana govt to upgrade status of Gurgaon

Gurgaon, Dec 23 (UNI) The Haryana government has finally decided to upgrade Gurgaon, with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announcing to set up a Municipal Corporation for the city.

The Chief Minister while addressing the Nav-Vikas Rally here, announcewd a bonanza for the city and assured to consider all the demands put forth by local MLA and convener of the rally Dharambir Gaba.

Mr Hooda said Gurgaon had made a distinctive identity not only at the national but also at the international level. The State Government would further develop it in a systematic and planned manner so that city features among the top most cities of the country.

He said for the infrastructural development of the city, a provision of Rs 776 crore had been made which would be spent in three years. So far a sum of Rs 275 crore had been spent for its rapid development and the maximum amount would be incurred for the Metro Rail Service.

He said for the drainage of rain water, a sum of Rs 112 crore would be spent and work on this scheme was under progress. The Chief Minister said a global corridor would be established on both sides of Kundli-Manesar -Palwal Expressway.

He enlisted the major developmental works carried out in Gurgaon during the tenure of the present government. He also announced to set up a Women Polytechnic and a community centre in village Basai.

He said efforts would be made to set up the first defence university in Haryana preferably here.

For improving the network of roads, a sum of Rs 3000 crore for the Rajiv Gandhi Infrastructure Roads and Bridges Programme had been implemented in the state, he disclosed.

Earlier, while inaugurating the new built library room in the judicial complex here, the Chief Minister said a scheme of Rs 162 crore had been prepared for the repair and maintenance of judicial complexes across the state. He also laid the foundation stone of the Bar Room for women advocates and extension room for the library.

As many as 17 judicial complexes had been constructed in 20 districts of the state and now such complexes were also being constructed at the block level, he added.
