Chill abates in Delhi, mercury shoots to 12.8

New Delhi, Dec 23 (UNI) The abatement in chill continued in the Capital today with the mercury soaring to 12.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal.

The minimum rose two notches above yesterday's 10.9 degrees Celsius offering some relief to Delhiites to enjoy their weekend.

The maximum temperature however dipped to 23 degrees Celsius, which was normal. It was 26.2 degrees yesterday.

Western disturbances caused a partly cloudy sky which is likely to remain the same even tomorrow, the met office predicted.

Visibility was normal.

The abatement in chill would remain for the next two to three days as the met office predicted that minimum temperatures in Delhi and other plains of northwest India are likely to remain near normal.

The minimum will further rise tomorrow and is likely to be around 13 degrees Celsius, the office said.
