BJP gains leads in 81 constituencies in Guj; Congress in 51
Ahmedabad, Dec 23 (UNI) The BJP attained comfortable leads in 81 constituencies in Gujarat as counting of votes polled in the state assembly elections progressed today.
Of the 137 trends available, the Congress was ahead in 51 while it ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was leading in two. The Bahujan Samaj Party,the Janata Dal (U) and an Independent were ahead in one constituency each.
Gujarat Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala (BJP) was leading in Rajkot two. Chaudhary Jitubhai of Congress was leading in Mota Pondha while BJP candidates were leading in Degam, Lunavada and Vagra constituencies.
