Prez offers prayers at Pondy temple

Puducherry, Dec 22: President Pratibha Patil offered worship at the famous Manakkula Vinayagar Temple here this morning.

The chief priest and trust members received the President at the temple. Later, accompanied by Lt Governor Mukut Mithi and Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Mrs Patil visited the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and offered floral tributes at the samadhi of the philosopher.

She also visited the Sri Aurobindo International Centre for Education. The President saw a handicrafts exhibition and heard patriotic and devotional songs sung by the students. She later visited the Auroville International City near here.
