Mob assaults policemen to free cow slaughter accused

Fatehpur, Dec 22 (UNI) A mob assaulted policemen to free six cow slaughter accused in Khakrer area of the district today.

Police said the accused were nabbed for slaughtering cows under Khakrer police station area.

Agitated over their arrest, a mob of villagers attacked the policemen and freed the accused.

Meanwhile, almost 100 people had been booked in connection with the crime. Besides, a named FIR had been launched against five others.

A large number of police personnel had been deployed to prevent fresh violence.

The situation, at present, was said to be tense but under control.
