Ministry of Social Justice to organise national exibition

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 22 (UNI) The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will organise the 11th National Exibition on the theme 'assistive devices training kit learning material barrier, for persons with disability,' from January 4 to 7.

Talking to newspersons here today, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Subalakshmi Jagadisan said the objective of the exibition was to provide general awareness about various welfare schemes by the government for the benefit of the physcically challenged persons.

The four-day exibition will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar, she added.

The Centre had allocated Rs 25 crore for the 'Scavanger Welfare', she said, adding, the Centre allocated Rs 30,000 crore to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in this year.

She also stressed the need for reservation in jobs for physcically challenged persons in the private sector.

Ms Jagadisan said the Centre had recently introduced a Bill both in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to help senior citizens to solve their grievances, including civil disputes. Under the provision of the Bill, they could directly approach the concerned district collector to get suitable remedy for their disputes, she added.
