Elaborate arrangements to handle festival rush at airport

New Delhi, Dec 22 (UNI) With increased flow of passengers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) due to holiday season, the airport authorities have made elaborate arrangements to cater to the needs of passengers.

In an effort to reduce inconvenience during the festive season, the Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd (DIAL), a joint venture working towards the modernisation and restructuring of the airport, has appointed customer care executives across all terminals to guide passengers towards their respective ones and provide any other assistance or information that they may need, a DIAL spokesperson said.

Special staff has also been deployed at both the arrival and departure terminals to assist passengers in finding taxis or alighting from their vehicles, helping with their luggage and also assist them with baggage trolleys.

DIAL has deployed traffic wardens to direct the flow of traffic and ensure minimum congestion in the drop off and boarding points.

In view of the anticipated disruption of flights due to fog and low visibility, Domestic Terminal 1B has been extended to provide additional seating for passengers.

This area has several F&B outlets and extensive flight information display system to regularly update the passengers on their flight status.

In addition, DIAL has also setup a basic Call Centre (+91 11 25661080) to provide flight information and airlines' contact numbers to the passengers wherein the latter have been requested to call up their respective airlines or DIAL Call Centre to confirm their flight timings before leaving home to avoid inconvenience.

Live flight status is also available at the airport's website www.newdelhiairport.in for the benefit of passengers.

In addition, DIAL is requesting passengers to use public transport like taxis instead of their personal vehicles to avoid parking problems. Although, DIAL has provided a free parking lot near the domestic terminals for the additional rush, it is likely that there may be an excessive inflow of passengers and vehicles during the next few days.

For arriving passengers, metered black&yellow cabs, radio taxis and luxury cars are also available at the airport.
