Dacoits loot valuables, cash from temple in Buldhana

Nagpur, Dec 22 (UNI) A gang of unidentified young men, armed with sticks and stones, looted cash and silver valuables collectively worth Rs 47,000 from a temple in Buldhana district in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra today.

According to the police, the men, about seven to eight in number, stormed into the temple of Lord Hanuman in village Wari Hanuman, about 80 km from Buldhana, early this morning. They allegedly beat up the employees of the temple with sticks and stones, injuring four of them, before decamping with cash worth Rs 22,000, silver valuables, including the deity's crown, and a mobile handset, the police said.

The cash included Rs 2,000 from the donation box, they said.

The four injured employees had been admitted to hospital in Akola, they added.
