No screening of Taare Zameen Par in Vadodara
Vadodara, Dec 21: Bowing to some pro-Hindu organisations threat, cinema houses and multiplexes in the city have decided not to screen the much-talked-about Aamir Khan-starrer ''Taare Zameen Par'', which released across the country today.
The decision was taken by exhibitors following two days of protest demonstrations before cinema houses here by activists of Sardar Patel Group (SPG) and the Hind Rakshak, who had vowed not to allow release of any Aamir Khan film unless the actor apologizes for his ''anti-Sardar Sarovar Dam'' remarks.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, an owner of a multiplex said they had no option but to cancel the shows of the movie as police was reluctant to take any action against the ''Sangh Parivar-backed'' protestors and provide adequate security to the cinema houses despite filing of complaints.
The two organisations had sent separate memoranda to the owners of all cinema houses in the city, seeking their support to the ''anti-Aamir Khan'' movement.
