Puri temple oppose ISKON Rath Yatra on Dec 23
Puri, Dec 21 (UNI) The Puri Jagannath temple today urged the Delhi Chief Minister to persuade the ISKON not to organise Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath on December 23 in Delhi, stating that it violated the religious ethics and set principles of the Jagannath cult.
Jagannath Temple chief administrator S C Mahapatra told newsmen here that a letter in this regard had already been sent to the Delhi Chief Minister.
He said as per the religious texts the Rath Yatra could be organised in the month of Asadha only and not on any other day.
The Jagannath temple servitors had also strongly opposed the untimely Rath Yatra and staged protest demonstration demanding intervention of the authorities to stop the anti-Jagannath cult activities by the Iskon devotees.
They even threatened to boycott the Iskon devotees and prevent their entry to the abode of Lord Jaganath if they decided to go ahead with their untimely Rath Yatra in the country.
The temple administration also requested the Orissa Resident Commissioner to convey the displeasure and the resentment of the devotees of Lord Jaganath and the servitors of the temple to the Delhi government.
