Orange festival celebrated in Manipur

Imphal, Dec 21 (UNI) The Orange festival was celebrated at Longmai part III Tamenglong yesterday.

Haokholet Kipgen, MLA K.Panmei , Deputy commissioner of Tamenglong district and other dignitaries attended the function.

In the festival organised by the state horticulture and soil conservation about 30 stalls displayed various orange products found in the district.

Handloom and handicraft products were also displayed. A competition was also held for the best orange products.

Officials said the festival has been celebrated since 2001 in the district to show the vibrant and colourful life and fauna of the district. Large numbers of people gathered at the district from all parts of the state. Cultural events, musical programmes were also organised as a part of the festival.

A Miss Orange contest was also held last night in which L K Nitha of Chandel was crowned Miss Orange. About 27 contestants took part in the contest.
