One killed, 10 injured in various incidents

Pathanamthitta, Dec 21 (UNI) A 14-year-old Ayyappa devotee died when the car in which he was travelling along with his father collided with a mini bus carrying pilgrims at Chalakkayam last night.

Police said the deceased Sreejith of Malappuram succumbed to injuries at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. His father who sustained serious and was admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, six more devotees were injured this afternoon when the branch of a tree fell on them at Neelimala on the traditional Pampa-Sannidhanam trekking path.

In the ensuing stampede, three more pilgrims were also injured.

The injured were Venkitesh(27), Mahesh(28) and Rajamanikyam(26) all from Tamil Nadu, Saraswathy (54) of Andhra Pradesh, Prasanth(23) of Thrissur and Hari(34) of Thookkupalam.

Devotees who sustained injuries in the stampede were Muthayyan(38), Mukkayyan(44) and Purushothaman(60), identified as hailing from Tamil Nadu.

Of the injured, Venkitesh, Mahesh, Saraswathy, Prasanth and Purushothaman were admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

The others were treated at Pampa Government Hospital.
