Govt must act, not just make statements on Naxalism: BJP
New Delhi, Dec 21 (UNI) The BJP today mocked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for expressing concern over the growing leftwing extremism of Naxals and demanded that the Government display its resolve through acts to contain the menace instead of mere statements.
Squarely holding the Congress responsible for the growing extremism, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said it was the Manmohan Singh government itself which had discontinued the coordinated action plan and working group arrangement initiated by the NDA to face the problem.
He charged the UPA government with entering into a political understanding with such forces on the eve of elections in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The ceasefire effected by the Government in AP provided "a golden opportunity for Naxals to regroup, reinforce and spread their tentacles," he said.
