'Datta Jayanti' begins at 'disputed' cave shrine
Chickmagalur, Dec 21 (UNI) The three-day 'Datta Jayanthi' celebrations began amid tight security at the controversial Bababudanagiri hill in Chickmagalur district.
A Large number of devotees and activists of pro-Hindu organisations thronged the cave shrine and offered worship.
The situation was peaceful, police said.
The district administration had put restrictions on the celebrations, including the 'darshan' of Datta Paduke inside the cave.
The administration allowed to conduct 'shobha yathra' but refused permission for 'homa' and related rituals at the shrine.
The cave housed a Hindu shrine and some Muslim tombs.
