Andaman police officer dismissed for accepting bribe
Port Blair, Dec 21 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Police today suspended a sub-inspector for demanding and accepting bribe.
South Andaman Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Chand told UNI that sub-inspector S I Mathai, posted at the Ograbraj (South Andaman) police station, had been dismissed after he was caught red-handed, accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, by the CBI.
Earlier, a CBI team had arrested the sub-inspector for accepting bribe for permitting illicit liquor trade on December 18.
The CBI produced the sub-inspector at a local court on December 19, where the special judge rejected his bail plea and remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
