116 new companies registered in Kerala in Nov'07

Kochi, Dec 21 (UNI) A total of 116 new companies were registered in Kerala during November, 2007, with a total authorised capital of Rs 14.74 crore, the Registar of Companies said.

Of these, four were public limited companies with a total authorized capital Rs 1.35 crore and 112 were private companies with total authorized capital Rs 13.39 crore.

Ten were big size companies which had authorized capital greater than Rs 50 lakh.

The highest number of companies, limited by shares, were registered from Ernakulam district (53), followed by Thiruvananthapuram (18) and Thrissur (13).

The broad classification of the companies indicates that these pertain to Real Estate (17), Computer/Software (16), Construction(10) and Finance (eight).

During the period, 128 cases were filed for violation of various provisions of the Companies Act, 1956, and an amount of Rs 75,000 was imposed by the court on the companies.

Another 64 companies were struck off under Section 560 of the Companies Act while three companies amalgamated during the month.

Six companies changed their names and one company converted from private to public, an official release said here today.
