TN photo electoral list to be released on Jan 11

Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) The photo electoral list for Tamil Nadu will be released on January 11, Election Commissioner Naveen B Chawla has said.

Talking to newspersons at the airport here last night, he said about 97 per cent of the work had been completed and the remaining would be completed soon.

''The photo electoral list will be given to all recognised political parties in Tamil Nadu for verification,'' he added.

When asked whether the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) could be used as a national ID, he said ''currently, the EPIC is only meant to cast vote.'' He said ''it is up to the Home Ministry to decide whether the EPIC can be used as a national ID.'' UNI
