Aizawl, Dec 20(UNI) A state-level steering committee on technology mission today reviewed its various activities and was impressed with the performances in most of the projects under it.

The committee was headed by chief secretary Haukhum Hauzel.

Among the projects were Champhai-based hi-tech green house plantations of variety of coloured capsicum, tomato and rose that could be harvested within the next four months. They had made Champhai the ''rose bowl'' of Mizoram that is worth-describing ''mini-Europe'' to the tourists.

Besides, state's anthurium that had reached foreign countries and capsicum, which is being potted at various Five Star hotels in our country, were highly praised in the meeting.

The moves to set up wineries at Champhai and Hnahlan, an ongoing organic certification of turmeric and its plantation at Reiek and some places were discussed.

Besides, a plan to install passion fruit processing concentration and aseptic packaging unit at Chhingchhip is expected to launch a trial run before new year, officials said.

A proposed cold storage unit for exporting flower at Lengpui airport was to be undertaken by APEDA, in the light of Mr Hauzel's discussions with the state civil aviation authorities. The committee had also resolved to speed up area expansion scheme for more works on potato, rose and anthurium in the state.
