Livestock sellers like Abid Malik said the prized animals were being named after stars like Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. He also said these animals were being fed generously and bred well.
"We feed them with dry fruits and a litre of milk. The price of the goat is fixed at 51,000 rupees," said Malik. Customers said they didn"t mind the cost if they got the goat of their choice. "Money is not important. It depends on the choice of the customer. If he likes it, he will buy it whatever be the price," said Muhammad Salaudin, a customer.
Muslims sacrifice the goats and distribute its meat among family, friends and the poor. Muslims believe a sacrificed goat is a reflection of one's own spiritual sacrifice, and see it as essential for achieving communion with Allah. For Muslims, Eid-ul-Zuha is a time to offer the perfect goat to the Prophet.
