Road roko against ''poor' relief measures

Jayankondam, Dec 20 (UNI) The villagers at Meikkavalputhur staged a road blockade in protest against the alleged failure of Ariyalur district administration to provide relief operations to flood-hit areas, today.

Led by Jayakondam MLA Rajendran (AIADMK), they disrupted traffic on the busy Jayakondam Croos Road, for over and hour.

Normalcy was restored after top revenue officials, intervened and pacified the agitators.

The villagers had, last evening, gheraoed Ariyalor district collector Xavier Christo Nayakam, when he was visiting the areas, alleging that the administration had failed to provide proper relief measures there.
