Poor visibility hampers landing of Sri Lankan flight
Tiruchirapalli, Dec 20 (UNI) A Sri Lankan aircraft carrying 115 passengers from Colombo spent some anxious momments as the pilot was unable to land at the International Airport here due to poor visibility today.
Airport sources told UNI that the pilot informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at 1300 hrs that he was finding it difficulty to land the aircraft due to poor visibility at the airport.
The ATC officials instructed the pilot to circle the aircraft till some alternative arrangements were made. The officials switched on powerful lights and night landing lamps on the runway and granted permission to the pilot to land the aircraft.
After circling for half-an-hour the aircraft landed safely at the airport, sources added.
