Owner held for house collapse, neighbours' death

Tiruchirapalli, Dec 20 (UNI) Police today arrested the owner of a house that collapsed in rain, killing four of a family in the city yesterday.

Police said Jagannathan (65), a business man, was arrested for constructing a house without due permission from authorities, which resulted in the death of his neighbours.

He was remanded in judicial custody, police added.

K Janakiraman (43), his wife Jothibai (36) and sons Mahesh (17) and Manikandam (10) were killed, when a portion of their house caved in after Jagannathan's house collapsed on it.
