Lok adalats in Kashmir settles 20 cases, Rs 30 lakh awarded

Srinagar, Dec 20 (UNI) Lok Adalats settled 20 cases amicably and awarded about Rs 30 lakh as compensation, an official spokesman said today.

He said a Lok Adalat was held in the Court complex Kupwara under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge.

Out of four cases taken up, the adalat settled three cases amicably and also recovered a fine of Rs 600 on the spot.

A similar adalat was held in the premises of Saddar Court complex Srinagar under the supervision and control of chairman District Legal Services Authority Mr Hassnain Masoodi.

The adalat took up 21 motor accidental claims. Out of these claims, the adalat settled 12 claims amicably and an amount of Rs 23.58 lakh was awarded as compensation.

He said a Lok Adalat held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Baramulla Sheikh Ghulam Nabi.

The adalat settled five cases of various nature against 32 taken up for hearing.

An amount of Rs 6 lakh was awarded under motor accidental claims on spot.
