Lifer to man convicted of killing brother

Kancheepuram, Dec 20 (UNI) A Fast Track court here today awarded life imprisonment to a man convicted of murdering his brother over property dispute.

On January 6, 2005, Govindarajan (22) had heated arguments with his brother Lokanathan (42) over property.

Govindarajan hit his brother with an iron pipe and a stone, killing him on the spot.

Lokanathan's wife Dhanalakshmi lodged a complaint with the police who registered a case and arrested Govindarajan.

After the conclusion of arguments, Judge R Dhandapani awarded life sentence and a fine of Rs 1,000 on Govindarajan.

In the event of failure to pay the fine, the convict shall undergo an additional imprisonment of three months, he said.
