Governor, CM greet people on Bakrid eve

Chennai, Dec 20 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today greeted the people on the eve of Bakrid.

In his message, Mr Barnala said 'let the Festival of Sacrifice rekindle the spirit of unity and brotherhood and promote peace and harmony'.

''On the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha, I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to all the Muslim brethren,'' a Raj Bhavan communique said.

In his message, Mr Karunanidhi said the Muslims, who were following the preachings of Prophet Mohammed, were given 3.5 per cent reservation in government jobs and educational institutions, in addition to various concessions by the government and greeted them on the occasion.
