Capital punishment for burning alive medical counsellor

Jabalpur, Dec 20 (UNI) A fast track court has handed down the death penalty to a person for burning alive a medical college counsellor.

District and Session Judge (Fast Track) Vijay Kumar Pandey awarded capital punishment to Kaushal Jaiswal yesterday for burning Jabalpur Medical College counsellor Sanjay Shrivastav alive by dousing kerosene on him on March 6.

According to the prosecution, Kaushal approached Sanjay on January 4 for getting AIDS medicine. However, Sanjay refused to provide medicine to Kaushal, as his blood tested negative for HIV.

Kaushal went to medical college again on March 6 and poured kerosene on Sanjay and set him ablaze. The victim was sent to Delhi for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

Additional Public Prosecutor Pramod Pandey told the court that Kaushal had doused petrol on another person Vishwanath Kewat and set him afire in Churat on January 10.

He said Kaushal was a habitual offender who killed people by burning them alive.
