Boeing sees $ 15 bn India defence biz over 10-15 yrs

New Delhi, Dec 20 (UNI) American aerospace giant Boeing today said it saw a potential business worth 15 billion dollars in India's defence sector over the next 10-15 years.

''We also see business opportunities worth 80 billion dollars in the commercial segment,'' Jim Albaugh, president and CEO of Boeing's Integrated Defence Systems, said.

He was talking to reporters after signing with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd a 10-year agreement intended to bring more than one billion dollars of new aerospace manufacturing work to India.

He said Boeing had a two-fold purpose-- to provide defence capabilities to India, and to generate incountry capabilities in defence.

On the India-US nuclear pact, he said the business relationship between the two countries was based on a solid foundation and would continue to grow regardless of the deal.
