2 arrested Maoists remanded in judicial custody

Madurai, Dec 20 (UNI) The Judicial Magistrate Court at Andipatti here this evening remanded the two Maoists, arrested by Tamil Nadu Special Task Force (STF) at Varushanadu Hills in Theni district, in judicial custody till January 3.

The Maoists---Yogesh alias Sachin (30) from Chhattisgarh and Balamurugan--were produced before Judge Sundaraiah amid tight police security.

The STF personnel had arrested five hardcore Maoists after an exchange of fire in the dense forest areas of Varushanadu Hills yesterday.

The arrested Maoists were identified as 'Nondi' Palani alias Mahalingam, Yogesh, Maruthu, Muruganandam and Balamurugan.

Of this, Palani, Maruthu and Muruganandam were admitted to the Theni Government Hospital as they suffered injuries in the cross fire.
