Symantec inks MoU with Meghalaya

Shillong, Dec 19 (UNI) Symantec, one of the leading players in IT sector, today signed an MoU with Meghalaya Information Technology Society (MITS) for setting up educational programme in the state.

The agreement was inked by Symantec Country Manager (India) Sudesh Prabhu and MITS Member Secretary Donald P.Wahlang in presence of IT Minister R G Lyngdoh.

MITS, a government undertaking will engage Symantec to advise them into their IT investment and projects towards technology driven modernisation, Mr Lyngdoh told reporters here.

He said the government had been making attempt to approach IT and ITES companies to invest in the state with multiple objectives including creating IT employment, improving IT infrastructure and using IT as a catalyst to fuel economy in other industries.

Mr Prabhu said Symantec had taken a holistic skill approach to understand industry requirements and create specific development initiatives.

The IT company has over 25 support centres globally, helping individuals and enterprises with their security and availability needs.
