Schools in city, TN Districts to be closed tomorrow also

Chennai, Dec 19 (UNI) All schools in Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts would remain closed tomorrow in view of the incessant rains.

School Education Director Jaganathan told UNI that all types of schools in the three districts, which were experiencing heavy rains would remain closed for the second day tomorrow.

Mr Jaganathan said in respect of other districts, the District Collectors have been authorised to take decisions, if the situation warranted.

Examinations scheduled for tomorrow would be rescheduled by the respective school authorities, he added.

The State Government declared a holiday for all schools throughout the state today in view of the heavy rains.

Several parts of Tamil Nadu were experiencing heavy rains for the past three days under the influence of a trough of low pressure.

Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts and some of the coastal districts bore the brunt of the rain fury. The weather office predicted more rains during the next 24 hours, stating that the low pressure is likely to develop into a depression.
