Newly-born girl found dead in nullah

Jalandhar, Dec 19 (UNI) A newly-born girl was found dead in a nullah near Urban Estate Phase II in the city this afternoon.

SHO Kulwinder Singh said the body had been reportedly dumped in the nullah by some unknown persons.

He said passers-by, who noticed some stray dogs pulling a body from the nullah, shooed away the dogs and informed the police.

The police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the body, which was later sent to Civil Hospital for Post Mortem examination, he said.

An FIR under section 113 of IPC was registered against unknown persons, Mr Singh added.
