New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) Lakshadweep is studying the experience of the Maldives in sewage disposal and Coastal Protection System for adoption in the Union Territory, Lakshadweep Administrator B V Selvaraj said here today.

''The experience of sewage disposal in Maldives, which is an island territory similar to the Maldives, is being studied for suitable adoption in Maldives,'' Mr Selvaraj said in his address at the 54th National Development Council (NDC) meeting.

He also said the Coastal Protection System, successfully executed in the Maldives at the very edge of the reef, if adopted in Lakshadweep, would open new possibilities for Lakshadweep's coral islands.

These projects would have to be formulated under the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan, he told the NDC.
