Gorkha regiment initiates action against jawans
Shillong, Dec 19 (UNI) The army has initiated disciplinary action against four jawans of Gorkha Regiment in Meghalaya for creating nuisance at downtown Shillong, Police Bazaar, for misbehaving with women and snatching away the SLR rifle of a police constable, army official said today.
Yesterday, four army jawans - Balram Gurung, Vijay Basnadh, Krishna V Rana and Sagar Tamang misbehaved with women and then snatched away the SLR rifle of a police constable, who tried to help the victims.
The jawans, allegedly in an inebriated condition, also broke the rifle of the policeman.
The army has chargesheeted the four jawans today, and will be punished as per the law, Defence Spokesman Wing Commander Rajiv Sisodia told UNI here.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya police said that the state police would also take actions against the erring jawans.
