Delhi shivers as mercury drops to season's lowest

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) The chill gripping Delhi for the past few days further intensified today with the mercury dropping to the season's lowest at 4.2 degrees Celsius.

The relatively low temperature continued to make Delhiites shiver for the fourth consecutive day today with the minimum temperature dipping further from 4.4 degree C yesterday to 4.2 degree Celsius, four degrees below normal, the lowest this season.

The maximum however rose slightly to 22.4 degrees Celsius but remained a degree below normal.

On Sunday, the minimum temperature fell to 4.4 degree C. After a slight rise to 4.6 degree C on Monday, the minimum again dropped to 4.4 Degree C yesterday.

A shallow fog in the Capital this morning reduced the visibility to 400 m at 0700 hours. The situation persisted till 1030 hours causing traffic jams in many areas of Delhi.

The chill in the air is likely to persist tomorrow with weathermen forecasting only a slight rise in minimum to 5 degrees.

The weatherman forecast mist/shallow fog for tomorrow morning.

Mainly clear sky is predicted but it is likely to become partly cloudy later in the day.
