Bangladeshi smuggler shot in Bengal

Basirhat, Dec 19 (UNI) A Bangladeshi criminal was shot dead while crosssing the border with cattle heads at Saiyadpur post under Hasnabad police station in North 24-Parganas early today.

The BSF jawans, who were guading the post fired at a group of cattle lifters when the latter defied an order for halt, local police said.

The deceased was identified as Ibadul, a resident of Bhatsala village under Deb Hata in Satkshira District.

Meanwhile, the district authorities have convened a meeting between the administrations and the BSF officials and police on December 27 to take stock of the prevailing situation along the border.
