60 policemen removed from Rohtas before Bikramganj byelection

Sasaram, Dec 19 (UNI) In order to ensure free and fair polling during December 29 byelection to Bikramganj Lok Sabha seat, the state government has transferred 60 police officers from Rohtas to other districts as per the Election Commission guidelines.

District Police Superintendent of Rohtas N H Khan told reporters here that those transferred to other districts included 15 officers in-charge of various police stations.

All transfers were temporary in nature and the concerned police officers would join their earlier place of postings after completion of the election process, he added.

'' As per guidelines of the Election Commission, officers posted for the past four days in the district, going to polls, should be removed before the election, '' Mr Khan noted.

Mr Khan said Chief Electoral Officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh today held a meeting with the District Magistrates of Rohtas and Bhojpur to review preparation for the polling and issued necessary instructions to the concerned officers in this regard.
