5 new fire brigade centers proposed

Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) The fire brigade department made a presentation on five new command centres to be started in the city, at the Standing Committee meeting today.

Speaking to reporters, Chief Fire Officer Anil V Sawant said that the new command centres will be set up at Wadala, Byculla, Vikhroli, Deonar and Marol and will be ready in 18 months after the same is cleared in the Standing Committee.

The new centres will have latest equipments and systems to be used in the rescue operations for heavy rains and building collapse also.

Mr Sawant said the fire command centre at Marol will be demolished and a new one will be constructed in its place, adding that all the command centers will also have a retiring room for the staff and higher officials.
