Woman immolated; cop suspended, another sent to lines

Jalaun, Dec 18 (UNI) The Orai Kotwali in charge was today suspended and Deputyganj outpost in charge sent to lines in the case of alleged immolation of a woman here.

Police today said Rajrani, 80, of Ramnagar locality had sustained grievous wounds, when some miscreants set her ablaze after dousing with kerosene.

The family members of the octogenarian today lodged a case against eight persons, including a local Samajwadi Party leader and his four brothers.

Meanwhile, the district magistrate had sent the victim to Jhansi for treatment after giving her an ex gratia of Rs 5,000.
