We got justice: Gopinath Munde

Mumbai, Dec 18 (UNI) ''We have got justice after 20 months,'' BJP national general secretary Gopinath Munde said while reacting to the award of life imprisonment on Pravin Mahajan, for killing his elder brother and senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan.

Mr Munde, brother-in-law of the slain leader, was present in the court along with Pramod Mahajan's widow Rekha, son Rahul and daughter Poonam.

Mr Munde said the country, the BJP and the Mahajan-Munde families, had suffered a great loss following Pramod Mahajan's murder.

Without mentioning Pravin Mahajan's name and choosing to describe the latter as ''accused'', Mr Munde said, ''We are still going through the trauma caused by Pramod Mahajan's loss, and this will take several years to heal.'' Mr Munde gently prevented reporters from seeking reaction from other members of the family, saying he was speaking on behalf of them. Rekha Mahajan was present and was seen wiping the tears from her eyes, while Poonam and Rahul just looked on.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari, while speaking to UNI from Nagpur, said he was happy with the verdict.
