Mah Govt constitutes experts committee for multiplex buildings

Mumbai, Dec 18 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has constituted an experts committee, under the chairmanship of M V Mirani, former secretary in Public Works Department, to take up a study on multiplex buildings in the metropolis and submit a report on their status.

The committee will recommend to the government whether necessary facilities are available for safety during any emergency situation, construction work is done as per development control regulations, there is need for any change in development control regulations from security and facility point of view.

Chief Engineer (Buildings) of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been appointed its Member-Secretary, whereas Principal of J J School of Architecture as Special Invitee. Additional Transport Commissioner (Traffic), Chief Fire Brigade Officer (Mumbai Fire Brigade), Chief Engineer (Electricity) of PWD, Chief Engineer (Construction) of PWD (Mumbai Region), Deputy Director of Town Planning (Mumbai) will be its members.

The committee has been asked to submit its report to the government in three months time from the date of functioning.
